So I've been very busy and haven't had a chance to update this blog for about 2 weeks so I may miss out a few things but il try to remember ! We dropped the van off in cairns and were a bit nervous as we chipped the windscreen and they told us when we rented it that any damage to the windscreen would cost $500 from our deposit. The day before we took it to a garage and got it repaired and had a receipt luckily for us the guy who we gave the van back to had only worked there two weeks and didn't really know what he was doing we explained that we got it repaired and cleaned the van up and he was happy for us to be on our way! We then took a bus to port Douglas and checked into a hostel called dougies. We spent the next 3 days doing interviews and searching for flats I was actually offered a job at each interview with immediate start on the same day but I told them I wanted to do all my interviews first before making a decision. I finally decided to work the Sheraton a huge 5 star resort with a similar layout to Coworth park. Was so happy to get a job cos I'm just about to run out of money and we get paid every 2 weeks the salary is 21 dollars an hour mon to fri then 25 on a Saturday and 29 on Sunday! Happy days. My evenings where basically chilling out in the hostel which is great it's a huge place in the rainforest with a pool and hammocks and there is a Dj every night and bands and stuff great atmosphere. After about 4 days in a dorm and no luck with finding a flat we decided to move to a tent to save money it's in a massive camp field which is basically a village each tent has a porch and house number and people live here some as long as 6 months! Everyone has personalised there tents with decoration sofas mini bar at the front and each street has its own name. The tent itself is quite small but has two proper beds with laminate flooring a fan bedside table and power sockets so it's liveable.ok so then I started my first day if work it was hard to get ready cos the girls showers are closed which means the whole hostel relies on the men's showers and there is only four so you need to wake up early and get in the cue same goes for the communal kitchen and laundry facilities.
