Before we booked this cruise I didn't now that this country existed, I thought perhaps- It was a mythical country from a Julie Andrews movie. To our delight this had been a fantastic experience. The weather mild and no rain. We boarded the shuttle bus for a five minute trip the the old town centre.
More old buildings and cobble stone lanes. Today being Sunday there was a family market in the town square, lots of stalls with local produce. I tried elk sausage and local smoked nuts. Enjoyed a local cinnamon beer ( different ) in a medieval restaurant - authentic with wenches and candle light. Sat next to a mother and daughter from England and enjoyed a chat with them . Enjoyed some entertainment in the square by some local musicians- mouth organ, lute and piano accordion. Sat in the sun and enjoyed a glass of wine and a local sausage. Totally enjoyed our time at this old town Sunday market. On our way back the ship we called into a beer hall and tasted a local savory treat - fried strips of pigs ear with berry dipping sauce. ( Chip and Heidi would love it ) washed down by a local beer .
