I am currently half way through my 11 hour train station stint (before my bus tonight) and have already basically finished my thailand book, half read chasing dean, read both surfing magazines i have in my possession (which has made me want to get in the sea asap), attempted to make my way through china town a in the sweealtering heat nd consumed a cheese and ham coissant. life story.
I had a fun day in Bangkok yesterday and think i must have walked around 7miles...most of which was up and down Khao San Rd.
I found a starbucks, had the obligitory coffee frappucinno, shopped till i dropped, purchased 2 pairs of aladdin pants, a cotton top and 2 headbands for a tenner and had a 10 minute conversation with a monk on the steps of a random buddist temple, the first name he mentioned when i said i was from Wales was Swansea! and said he has friends all over the UK. He preceeded to invite me into his house...i declined. It is absolutely crazy how busy the streets get and its almost impossible to cross the road, you literally have to walk out and hope they stop or at least slow down for you. I am loving the sunshien tho, it is rally humid but the air con in my room was actually really good. I'm looking forward to spending time relaxing in the sun.
I was totally shattered by the end of the day and went to bed relatively early again. I got a taxi to the trainstation ealy this morning hoping to catch the 08:05 train, of course i missed it!
I then booked a bus and boat combo ticket to Ko Tao which means after i have done my 11 hours of train station i get 7 hours bus and then a much more appealing 3 hour boat ride to Ko Tao which i am feeling more than ready for! I have never been one for crazy city life so although i'm glad i've done the bangkok experience for a day i'm glad to be moving south as theres only so much of the sixth man asking if you want a taxi or tuk-tuk even tho they have seen you say 'no, i'm walking' to the previous 5.
ha! i guess it is their job and they do have to make money...and i do look like a tourist!haha
so onto the next destination.....Ko Tao
