OkOK SOOOOOO i havn't written in ages so i'll do a blog for xmas and a blog for New year!
Xmas Eve: This was an AMAZING night...probably one of the best nights i've EVER had out probably because it was sooo different to your average night out! A massive group of us shelled out $80 each for an ALL YOU CAN DRINK, ALL YOU CAN EAT, SYDNEY HARBOUR CRUISE! It was unbelievable and worth every single penny. We all headed down to Darling Harbour and set off from there at 7pm. The boat was better than i expected, ity had 2 decks and the dancefloor in the middle was surrounded completely in glass walls top to bootom so you could see all the lights of sydney while you were getting pissed and dancing with santa and a giant inflatable whale. I was worried about how much food and drink we would get as normally all you can drink things have some sort of way of conning you form getting much. But as we boarded there was tables and tables of free alcohol just sitting there ready to be drunk and then at the other end of the boat a massive table that was being continuously topped up (for the 1st hour at least) with PIZZA HUT PIZZA.I was in heaven as was everyone else and the boat was full of 600 happy smiling people clutching 5 pieces of pizza in one hand and a couple of cans in the other. I spent most of the night with Rael, Tom, Peter, Simon, Rob, and The crazy Dutch me-Thijs+ T and moving form group to group occasionally. We just moved from the top deck, wacthing the sky darken as we sailed under the harbour bridge and then partied downstairs to the onboard DJ who was boosting out a mix of your uauly club sounds and cheesy xmas music. Now and again the inflatable whale would make an appearance. I happen to be dressed as a candy cane...well as best as my limited wardrobe could do but i did have a giant plastic hollow candy cane which turned into the beer bong for the night and i'd say around 10 people got very drunk from using it to down their drinks. 3 hours later sadlt the boat trip had coem to an end and we were let loose on the city of Sydney. I was with Thijs and Peter and we tried to get intot he bar on the harbour as apprently there was a free drink waiting in there. The bouncer asked me how much i had to drink...i said 3 drinks (more like 10) and without hesitation let me in.....but when the boys went to enter the guy asked the same question they answered the same as me and the bouncer said sorry boys no entry for you. Which was totally ridculous as they were the same as me and despite 3hours of boat drinking we all felt fairly sober. I marched back out and we tried again....and the same they let me in but not the 2 boys so i marched back out a second hand and told the bouncer her was ebing stupid and that i had drunk more than them and he STILL let me in! So anyway after Peter talk to a sympathetic security guard who realised the boucners were indeed sexist pigs we moved onto the backpacker friendly 'The Gaff'. This was a much better choice and we danced all night and chanted as the DJ couted down to Xmas day. Not long afte ri managed to looose everyone!! So went outside to see if i could find anyone. I bumped into a VERY drunk Rob which was so funny considering i ahd completely sobered up at this point. I asked fi he wanted to head back and he drunkenly aggreed. We got some food then got a bus, half way through the journey Rob had a nose bleed and then I rung his dad, yes I rung his dad. Rob insisted i speak to him, so i said merry xmas then passed the phone back to Rob. Mum and Dad your lucky i didnt have my phone on me at this point as you probaly wouldve had a drunken phone call off Rob.
Anyway we made it baklc to the hostle to find a load fo people still awake including Rael...who was back in his Red y fronts and santa hat bouncign around the communal kitchen. We stayed up for what seemed like ages singing and propping goon boxes and ither impliments on the backs of sleeping guys ahhahahaaaa. Then we went up to room 3 where we were going to retreat to our beds and sleep. But me, Rael, Thijs and Tom had a better idea. While our roommates were sleeping we set out to carry on partying and at probably aroun 3am we set up the speakers and blasted out Frosty the snowman, turned the lights on and danced around like crazy people. This was the most fun i've managed to have in a hostle room in an hour. We literally had a mad hour , i have no idea why the other members of the room did not tell us to shut up. When we had finsihed laughing and calmed down me, Tom and Thijs opted to sleep on the floor so we could benifit the fans. This was the end of a hilarious night and one i will always remember as xmas 2009!
XMAS DAY: Wayheyyy so i got up early as usual and had soem freeeee xmas pancakes in the Kitchen with Ross and Jenny and then me, Ross and Rael went to Bondi beach for the quintesential xmas day surf. Conditions were not favourable, but it turned out to be fun and Ross caught his first rpoper standing wave and was jumping and screaming like a mad man. Me and Rael got some good looks as we were paddling out in santa hats. After the surf we went back and had our giant XMAS lunch....all 188 of us on the back patiop eating chicken and pasta salad. Was nothing like home but was good to do something different i guess. After dinner and chocolate cake everyone was quite subdued...then that catchy Maria Carey xmas song came on and soemthing transformed us all in to dancing singing looney. We all jumped up on the benches and went crazy, i sware the whoel hostle indoors and out was bouncing with xmas cheer haha. That afternoon i went for a second surf with Peter and Rael, the surf had picked up but the wind was totally messing it up but it was a lot less busy than normal so in we went. I was the only one in without a wetsuit but it was bloody cold by this point. I actually managed to get a few waves but heading ina fter probably an hour as it was started to rain and the wind was picking up....can i remind you this is xmas day on bondi beach!!!! Definatley not an iconic one!
Xmas day was not the same as being at home with the family but i still enjoyed it and was glad to share it with some good people doing some fun things :D
