I've been in Australia 8days now and its flown by. I've been pretty busy hopping from one hostle to the other and have kept myself busy everyday. The day i arrived in Sydney even tho it was only 3hours different i was feeling pretty jet;agged and had a complete reverse culture shock. Although Aus is more like home than asia in many ways , Aus is VERY VERY different in ALL ways from Bali and Thailand. I felt dirty walking around Kings croos where my hostle was on my first 3 nights. I sat down and had a coffee and sandwhich for the price of dinner and a pretty much whole nights drinking in Alley Cats in Bali. I'm setteled alot more now and things arent seeming to cost as much ubt i definately feel like i have to watch my money here.
My first full day was spent walking around Sydney centre , had a look in all the shops and saw Darling Harbour which is beautiful. I loved it there. I had seen the Opera House and Bridge the night before when i went for a wander to get my bearings. I'm glad ive seen the opera house but im not all thaty fussed about going in it.
On the 18th i went on a Blue mountains trip which was definatley a good descision. The Mountain ranges and walks were beautiful. Our first stop led us to soem wild kangaroos which are the first i've seen not in a zoo. Then we did a little walk down and back up through forest to see wentworth falls which is a couple of waterfalls which are pretty cool. Got to view a sheer cliff drop which was amazing. The mist and cloud made for some good photos but it meant we didn't get to see one of the attractions- The Three Sisters. We had a pretty funny guide so despite the weather it was good fun.
The next day i moved to Bondi ready for my xmas period. 5 minutes after i got to my new hostle just down the street from the beach i cancelled my new years accomodation in the city because i decdied i'd rather be on hte beach. The most random thing i've done because i knew getting accomodation this late would be difficuly but i have since booked a week in manly when i finish my Bondi stint. Bondi is alot as i expected, it actually reminds me alot of a seaside town at home just hotter! It has all the seaside style shops and ice creams and lifeguards and sandcastles. It does have a nie atmosphere tho, its pretty busy as everyone is on their xmas hols. My furst day was spent wandering around, checking out the bach. I went for a little surf with ne of the guys who works at the hostle but the surf was and has not been great since i got here. Its also 10degrees colder and 10times busier than Bali! My 2nd day in Bondi was spent doing the Bondi to Coogee walk with Kelly, a 6 mile round trip and i opted to do it without shoes because me feet are such a mess. Was a beautiful walk and the cliff sights were amazing! We chilled out at Coogee beach for a bit before walking.
The day after me and Kely did a day trip to Manly which i fell in love with. I booked 7nights after Bondi there. The ferry ride was cool and pretty cheap got to see all the sydney coast. Relaxed on the beach and ate fish and chips and coffee. On the 23rd we went shoppign at Bondi JUnction and found some bargains.
