Ok so haven’t written in a while. I actually wrote a shed load yesterday and it all got deleted, gutted! So I’ll just fill in the events of the past week.
20/11
Surfed Kuta beach with a load of locals, was actually really fun, started getting some longer rides and I got to see how much the Indos rip.
21/11
Went to Nusa Dua for the first time. Lee let me go on the back of his bike because I hadn’t had enough practice. We met up with Bungle and Nick and we started the 10minute trek across the beach, 10 minute careful stepping over reef and 15 minute paddle out back! Helluva arm burner. Got out there and was a little nervous about the size of the waves, probably only 3ft but we were still over fairly shallow reef at this point. Then we moved down to bottom peak for a bit and I got a few there. Was pretty much just us on the peak for most of the time we were there (3hour ish) then a boat load of Americans turned up so we started the 15minute paddle back in. I was shattered when we got back and worn out from the sun, slept most of the day.
22/11
No surf for candy today, can’t remember anything else
23/11
Me and Mubles surfed Kuta Beach which was shockingly bad. I’ say almost home standard but at least I was in a bikini not a 5mm. Went out on my own because mumbles was being boring and bumped into two guys I work with at home Morgan and Deshko so we went out for a few beers, I headed back early tho.
24/11
Surfed Nusa Dua with Lee and Mumbles again this day, probably the best surf I’ve had, just got a lot more confidence in the water and starting to progress a little bit at least. It was Nick and Laura’s penultimate night so we went for a meal then got our hands on some cheap stuff resembling dark rum and drunk on the patio by the pool. Nicks cousin Joel and two mates Mitch and Dan flew over from Fiji and joined us for a night out. Started off with some vodka thing in sky garden but moved on pretty quickly to a outside bar next to a car park called something like green box where you could get cheap mojitos so we had a drink there. Random but a good drink. Then we went to bounty for a couple of beers but went back by around 1230.
25/11
Got up, a little hungover and remembered Nick told Joel I’d give him a lift on the back of my bike to Canggu . So that’s how it went. It was a funny journey if not a little scary at times. Think I scared Joel at first but I managed to get us there in one piece. Surfed a tiny crowded Canggu with Lee, Story man Bungle, Mumbles, Joel and Nick then made the journey home. Of course I got lost. Mumbles and Nick had to back track to find me and Joel then I nearly steered us into a brick wall at which point Joel offered to ‘drive anytime I want’ we got to a corner and swapped at which point mumbles thought it would be a great idea to do some off-roading and turned off down some sketchy dirt path. Joel had just taken over and we started to go over this path and then managed to tip the bike down into a ditch and we stacked it. Luckily we were going zero miles an hour and Joel managed to grab the bike and steer it back on the path. We made it round the other side to find the other laughing and then found out we could have avoided the path all together by just following the road we were on around! When we got into the traffic hell that is Kuta I was glad Joel was driving because I was pretty sure I would’ve tipped us over.
When we got back we went to Alley Cats for some good English food and me n Mumbles spent the day at the pool. It was Nick and Lauras final night and they wern’t planning on drinking. That went out the window pretty quickly and we started off with a big meal, all 8 of us at Café Local the restaurant next door to our hotel. Then went to Sky Garden for 50,000IDR / 3GBP all you can drink beer! The trouble was you had to queue to get the beer because there was obviously a fair amount of people cashing in. So we came up with this rotation plan which meant at any time there was always 2 of us in the queue. By the time the two in the queue got to the front we had to make sure we’d finished our beers so we could give the empty glasses to them ready for a fresh one. Then it continued all over again. Nick worked out we needed 9 to get our money worth which would turn out to be my down fall and I made sure I didn’t leave until I got my 9 beers (good job they were half pints not whole!) We then headed to Alley Cats for some double double vodka redbulls which were actually double Arrac and syrup of some sort. Was definitely pretty drunk at this point, spilt Dans drink all over him. The rest of the night is blurry but we did apparently end up in bounty and I woke up in bed with my surfboard. Good times.
26/11
Was so hungover today, definitely drunk too much last night. Spent the day at the pool then wandered around the shops and got an early night. No surf for candy
27/11
Today we drove to Nusa Dua and obviously I lost mumbles and Joel within 10minutes so I had to find my way there on my own and surprisingly enough managed it. The surf was small and crowded so probably only stayed in an hour. Then we all came back to the hotel and have stayed in the pool pretty much the whole day. Off out to Sky Garden and Bounty tonight for some more all you can drink fun!
