REPOSTED - October 29/07
It's over. The race was a bit cool to start, then ideal race conditions, then cool to the finish. The crowds along the way were outstanding cheering the whole way which was good because there were more that a few hills that started to wear you out. I wore a Canada shirt and the crowd always yelled Go Canada as I approached. Met a girl from Ireland halfway and we ran until the end together until she outpaced me in the last 2km (probably the longest 2km of my life). Finished at 4:02:25 which is about 15 min faster then I hoped so I couldn't have asked for a better day and result. The weather was perfect for running in though it was a bit winding (even the pros were saying that so it's not just sour grapes on my part!) Leanne finished healthy as well with her best time ever so we are both glad. We would recommend this race to anyone interested, it was very well run and the people really made it worthwhile. One of the guys in the group was saying that as he hit the 20 mile mark a young girl yelled out to him "You've run 20 miles surely another 6 won't kill you".
The knee held up pretty good but I am paying for it now. No major swelling, no burn marks so everything worked out great. Looking forward to a few beers.
