It is Tuesday and we are less than two weeks away from our first camping trip, ironically on my birthday weekend. Can't think of a better way to spend my birthday, though I am a little concerned that we will spend more time trying to figure everything out and me continuing to convince my husband, Randy, that this is a good thing for us.
We bought our camper after 18 months of planning and 10 months of saving. We started out thinking we wanted a travel trailer and truck and changed our minds to a Class C a couple of months ago. We budgeted a certain amount, but as circumstances would have it, we didn't have near that amount and I didn't want to wait to get it.
We didn't want to finance it, so we got an older camper and with it some of the problems of having an older camper, but since we aren't sure this is what we want to do 'long-term', this was the better route. There has already been a casualty...thanks to me. While de-winterizing it, I neglected to put the water pressure regulator on it, and blew out an inside hose. THe camper also needed new sewer pulls...all of that cost us nearly $600.
We have pumped in more for accessories, which would have had to be added anyway. Now she (a name has not been selected yet) in the storage facility waiting to be taken for it's first spin. There are a few minor things to get yet, like a mattress; t.v. with DVD player (not a must); and some minor other things for food/drink etc.
Our first trip will be to Nashville, Indiana. It is a short drive from here and has full hookups...I am excited, though a little apprehensive. Randy is very apprehensive...he doesn't like things he doesn't 'know.' The unfamiliar makes him very uncomfortable and hates aggravating things...this should be interesting.
