Monday marked the start of Disorientation Week on campus. It was the first day of classes (although I don't have any classes on Mondays) and there were special events going on for students. It was a rainy night, but we trecked out to the Village Green in the center of campus to see an ambient/dub-step guy play live music. We were pretty much the only people there even though it was a free concert. I really enjoyed the music and had a good time getting to know a couple of my flatmates that attended with me.
After the show, we went to Bar 101, the bar downtown that is associated with the University. They were having a quiz night. Everyone who attended got a free drink, and a free pizza for each team. We had a largely international team with three kiwis, one South African, two Americans, and one German so we had experts from different areas on our team. Some of the quiz categories were movies, coctails, music and genres, daily tasks, and 50/50. In between the different categories, there were bonus rounds where the MC would ask people to do crazy things. It was very entertaining. Although we didn't win any of the prizes (money for a bar tab) we all had a good time.
