Cait and Rob's Adventures
G'day ok so we left Koh Phangan for Krabi; the ferry wasn't too bad but I did take 3 travel sickness tablets so I slept most of the way on rob's shoulder, u dribbled a bit appaz! We got to Krabi late at night and found a cool diving shop with rooms for 3.50 pound a night; we only stayed there for 1 night as rob was sick with a fever and needed air con. I found us an air conned hotel room for like 5 pound a night…. Go me haggling on hotels! Well it rained for our 3 days in Krabi and we didn't do much except go to Boots and on one day we did venture out to Ao Nang the main tourist beach for a McDonalds!
From Krabi we got a bus too Phuket where we found a crazy colour themed hotel called Dara; we had the apple green room. In Phuket we spent nearly every day at the pool as we seemed to be the only guests to use it. The one day we did get the bus to the tourist beach resort mainly so Rob could buy another Hard Rock Café shot glass; we were horrified by the sight on the beach, it was full of sun burnt English or at least Europeans and it was so tacky; gosh are we snobs now…??? After 4nights in Phuket we flew to Singapore; amazingly we managed to leave the hotel on time. We had to leave the hotel at 6.50am to get the airport shuttle. The flight was only like 3hours to Singapore with no time difference which was good.
Once in Singapore we got the metro to the Hilton; the Hilton was lush, it is in my top 4 Hiltons! We got comp bottle of red wine and chocolates on arrival; maybe due to my email saying it was our anniversary HEHE. We were so busy in Singapore; we fitted in High Tea at Raffles, F1 track, night safari ZOO, shopping, sunbathing/sun burn at the Hilton's roof top pool also the science museum. It was a busy 3 days. At the science museum Rob and I got in kids wendy house HEHE also we saw baby chicks that were 3 days old. They had eggs ready to hatch and we waited for ages but we didn't see them hatch.
On the 4th day we flew to Sydney via Perth; wow it was tiring but the cheapest route!!!!! We got into Perth at midnight and our flight out was not until 5am… we had a cup of tea and waited for the 1st bus to take us too the domestic terminal. Once aboard the flight both Rob and I fell straight to sleep; 4 hours later we arrived in Sydney. Anna was there to meet us, we went straight to Marianne's (my cousin) for a lush Indian curry then we walked round Manly and had a hot chocolate in Max Brenna's. We got to bed about 8pm which was desperately needed.
After a few days of pottering around David and Anna's house Rob and I took the Manly ferry into the city to see the sites. The ferry ride gives a great view of the harbour bridge. We walked around Cirqular Quay for the morning and then went to ANZ to open bank accounts in anticipation of a job!!! We have also enjoyed seeing The Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Hyde Park, on Australia Day we walked through the Botanic Gardens and Hyde Park where we watched the tail ship race, 13 gun salute, red berates, vintage cars and beer tents! We have met Kelly a few times for thirsty Thursday, one of these meetings involved Kelly falling off her chair & Cait being sick on the bus into a used sandwich bag GOOD TIMES! For my aunt's birthday (Anna) we went to a yummy Japanese restaurant in Surry Hills. We have also sampled local fish and chips which are so so good. One our 2nd week here Anna took us to Palm Beach which is where Home & Away is filmed/set; we walked up to the light house for breathtaking views then met David (my uncle) for coffee/hot choc/beer at a café over looking the beach :-) unfortunately it was not on the right day for filming but I do plan to go back and try and get on screen.
Rob and I are now experienced cake makers as D&A have a banana tree and the fruit seems to ripen all at once so for the 1st week here we were practically making banana loaves every day! also it has been Anna's Bday and a few of here friends so we made them birthday cakes!
On Valentines Day Rob and I babysat for 3 boys aged between 2 and 7; it was hard work but it means pennies for my pocket :-) we then had a romantic fish dinner… from the chippy!
I have an interview tomorrow (16th) for a job in a chocolate shop in the city… fingers crossed.
We are really enjoying it in Sydney. It is hot and sunny most of the time, except the last 2 weekends when it poured with rain and it is way relaxed here which is good.
Lots of love and miss you all
C & R xx
