Today was an exceptional day. First we went to Carey Baptist Church. This church is 202 years old and was founded by William Carey, the first protestant missionary. This is the guy we all studied. The pulpit was the same one used by Carey. It was awesome to be worshiping in such an historic place. After church we walked about two miles to the center of Kolkata where the British built their capital during the Raj. We continues on to lunch at the KFC near the river.
After lunch we walked to the Ganges river and took a boat ride. The Ganges is probably the most polluted river in the world. The poor get all of their water from the river without filtration. We got off on the opposite side of the river at Harrods train terminal. This is one of the biggest terminals in the world with over two million people passing through each day.
We walked across the Ganges river bridge with about a thousand other people. We caught a taxi on the other side of the bridge. Tonight we ate at Macombo which was a very good restaurant. I have chicken a la Kiev.
Kolkata is the eighth largest city in the world with over 15 million people.

Jim WOW, I'll bet the feeling was awesome worshiping there. KFC? are you kidding? I'm getting claustrophobia just reading how crowed it is there. Food sounds good.
