DAY 28: NYC - THE FINAL LEG!
After a 3hr train trip this morning we arrived in the Big Apple. Safe to say Josh was in awe of his surroundings for this final leg of our holiday. Nic took a pic of him looking out the cab window on the way to our hotel, which I think sums up his first impressions perfectly.
Soon after lunch we were able to check into our digs at the Trump International Hotel. Like we've done all holiday, we've scored well with our accommodation here - a city view exec suite on the 9th floor. Josh has even got his own bathrobe!
Our hotel is nestled on the corner of Central Park near the metro hub of Columbus Circle.
After settling in, we took a walk down our street along the famous park, said 'no thanks' to about a dozen vendors hawking for a buggy ride, before reaching the Dakota and the neighbouring Strawberry Fields park. The homeless busker there at the 'Imagine' mosaic was doing his best to murder John Lennon again, so it was time to end this Beatle pilgrimage and head a few blocks further down to the American Museum of Natural History.
Rocks, stuffed animals, gems and skeletons - yep, I'm pretty much over museums for this holiday, but Josh just loved this one, which I guess is all that matters.
Tonight we chose to have dinner at 'Robert' - too fancy a place to be called 'Bob' I'm guessing. It's a restaurant on top floor of the nearby Museum of Modern Art building (we caught the express lift).
Tomorrow we jump on the subway to see what the other end of Manhattan has to offer as we make our way back up the island over these next five days.
