DAY 26: BASEBALL AND A BIT OF HISTORY
Well I think our shoes covered most of Boston today. We kicked things off with Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Not much trekking there - it's right behind our hotel!
In its 103rd year, Fenway Park is the oldest ball park in Major League Baseball, so we got given a lot of history on our tour around and inside the stadium. Sitting in seats that are over 80 years old, you can only imagine what it would be like to be here on game day.
From there, we made our way to the North End, Boston's historic district at the other end of town.
We walked the 'Freedom Trail' in and around a lot of churches, old homes, statues, gardens cemeteries and lanterns - they're big on lanterns here (I think it had to do with some guy on a horse?)
Before we knew it, we had walked ourselves back into town and onto Boston Common, a major park in the city. After you walk so far, you feel like you can walk on water - so Josh and I did just that, joining hordes of others taking a leisurely stroll/slide across the park's frozen duck pond.
We popped into the Cheers bar on Beacon St, but it was too crowded for a drink, so we made one final trek along the fairy lit stretch of Commonwealth Ave to our hotel.
Gonna sleep well tonight!
