Waking up at 1am was a killer but I knew it would be worth it. We drove in the taxi for 2 hours before reaching a little hut in the middle of a Balinese coffee plantation. We were cooked chocolate and banana pancakes and black tea. Then we drove on a bit further to reach the bottom of the volcano. We were shown to our tour guide then we set off in the pitch black to try reach the top before sunrise. The volcano was called Bantur and is still active. The last eruption was in 2000. The trek up to the top took two hours and the terrain was very intense. It was such a steep and long climb, for parts of it there wasn't a clear path, just rocks to climb. Thankfully I had a torch, I had to really concentrate on where I was putting my feet. It was such an amazing feeling to finally reach the top! We all looked down to where we started, what an achievement! We got right to the top in time to see the sun rise! The views were incredible. I can't even describe how amazing that moment was. Our guide cooked us a boiled egg each and a banana sandwich. I hate bananas so just had the bread. They literally love bananas here. Then we made the journey back. It was so much harder on the way down, we were all slipping and sliding everywhere! Being the typical jelly legs that I am, I manage to fall and graze my wrist. Our tour guide cleaned and covered it for me, he was so sweet! I just knew I was going to be left with a fat bruise on my leg though! Reaching the bottom was also an amazing achievement, I was so glad! The taxi driver then drove us on to Ubud. We stayed at Argasoka Bungalows. We arrived there at 10am with the rest of the day to spare. You can have your clothes washed, dried and ironed for you for next to nothing. So we took all our clothes to the laundrette, literally everything! My bag and all. We walked into town and had some more treatments. After some haggling down I paid £2 for a manicure. Then I went for a hair cut in a posh salon, it came to £5! I really needed that too. We walked around the town for a bit, and had a Starbucks. I bought a Starbucks mug for Bali to add to my collection. I also bought a few new clothes as I'm getting sick of wearing the same ones everyday. Some of my clothes are starting to fall apart now. Back at the hostel, I spoke with the receptionist about travelling over to the Gili Trawangan Island tomorrow. After sweet talking her, she reduced the price by £15 between us, which in Bali is quite a bit as I have only spent £150 since being here for everything. I'm getting good at this whole haggling malarky! We got back to the room, got glammed up and went out for a nice dinner at a really lovely restaurant in the main street. We were all really tired as only had two hours sleep before waking up for the volcano and have an early start tomorrow for the Gili Islands. Can't wait!
