Happy Birthday Megan! 24! Wow you are old!
So it was our last day in London, but we definitely made the best of it.
Although it took us forever, we made it to Greenwich. Before we went up the
hill we stopped at Costa and got some coffee and muffins! Which just made my
day. We then went through the Museum, and then wandered up the hill. Which is
actually kind of a hike! On top of the hill is a planetarium (London's only)
and then the prime meridian line! That was fun, because we kept making jokes
about time travel and being on two different hemisphere's and what not. After a
few photo ops, we headed out and walked around the town of Greenwich for a
while, which is charming like the rest of London.
With some of the trains being down, we opted for taking the boat back to
Embarkment (which adds another means of transportation we have used). At
Embarkment we walked around and went into a few book stores. We then made out
way to Las Iguanas for dinner.
Being our last night in London and with Dawn, we splurged a little. We all
ordered an entree (which Meredith and I have just been ordering sides at
restaurants when we go out to save money) and also some Sangria. Mu favorite
part about the restaurant was how many vegetarian options it had! I had
asparagus and artichoke fajitas while Dawn ordered a butternut squash and
chickpeas enchilada. Our food was absolutely delicious!
After dinner we rushed down to the theater. London has its own little broadway,
and I swear there were about 100 plays showing. Including Hair, Mama Mia, Les
Miserables, Billy Elliot, etc. We got our tickets and made our way to the
seats.
Although we were in the upper deck, the theater wasn't very large and we could
still see the whole stage. I have been wanting to see Les Mis FOREVER, and
really enjoyed the show. Plus I recognized a lot of the songs from Glee :D
The show was excellent, and a perfect way to end our stay in London. We made
our way back to Romford (not going through Barking this time). Tomorrow we have
to be out of Romford by 6am to make our 9:30 Eurostar to Paris!
Overall London was great! I hope the rest of the trip goes as smoothly!
