Well Meredith and I made it safe and sound. It was definitely a little
adventure this morning. But overall everything went smoothly. We left Detroit
this morning at 2:30pm and had a quick flight to Washington D.C. Then we had
just enough time to grab some Subway and board our plane to Brussels. The plane
ride was actually really nice too, and the food wasn't half bad, which is
shocking. Meredith and I watched its complicated on the way there... At first I
thought Sherlock Holmes was playing and I was ecstatic, but then we discovered
that was playing Westbound, and turns out Europe is Eastbound.. :( Regardless,
It's Complicated was really good.
After landing in Brussels, we followed Emilie's (my study abroad coordinator)
directions to get the University of Brussels to drop off my luggage. And let me
tell you, suitcases + cobble roads = disaster. Meredith and I's suitcases were
flopping and rolling with every stone we hit. Plus we had my other one to deal
with. Thank God for Mere, she really was a lifesaver.
We made it to the University and found Emilie's office. She talked to me a
little about my housing for July and I am really excited about it. From the
sounds of it I will be placed with mainly other international and Belgian
students in a nearby house :) Emilie was such a sweetheart and so helpful. She
then gave us directions to the Eurostar... which we had to take the tram to the
metro to the train to London. But Meredith and I showed off our travel
capabilities and made it with no problems. We even made it out on the 11:30am
train, and that is where I am now. Sitting on the train on the way to London.
Meredith is reading the magazine, but she looks a little tired :) I don't blame
here because I am absolutely exhausted.
We arrive in London around 12:30ish and we are then meeting her cousin, Dawn, at
4:30pm. So we will have a little time to wander and explore. And in English :)
Which will make things a little easier.
