To top off everything from last night... the guy freaking snored. UGHHHHH!
Anyways, the only way to describe this morning was AKWARD.
They were both supposed to be checked out by 10am, but after 10am came and
passed, I decided I wasn't going to wait for them to get ready and I decided to
get out of bed and ready for the day!
Meredith and I planned on doing either the 10:45am or 1pm walking tour and from
the looks of it seemed as though we would be making the 1pm.
After I showered the girl got up and apologized to me for last night. I told
her it wasn't her fault and that she really could do better... which honestly,
you could date a dog and be doing better than that jerk.
Then the rest of the morning was awful. He woke up.. and started treating her
like a princess. Apologizing to her and asking her to eat breakfast with him..
which she totally did... and turns out they will finish our their trip
together... absolute rubbish..
He apologized to Meredith and I and neither of us replied.... I would have had
to wash my mouth out with soap 100 times if I would have told him what I was
thinking about him.... So I decided to just ignore him.
They eventually left around 12pm.. Only to accidentally take Meredith's rain
jacket mistaking it as their own. But luckily Meredith caught it in time to get
hers back....
We then got ready and headed to our walking tour. The tour starting ground was
really close to our hostel, only about a 10 or 15 minute walk. We had to stop
though and get a coffee before the tour... I was dragging.
I figured out my sleeping cycle here. One night you don't sleep at all because
of noise, but then the next night you are so exhausted that you sleep so sound
and don't here anything... and this is a cycle, because after the night of sound
sleep you are a little more rested. So night comes around and you are tired but
not tired enough to block out all the sounds. So basically I have been sleeping
every other night.
So when you see my pictures and the dark circles under my eyes, you know the
reasoning.
The tour was pretty good. I definitely enjoyed Berlin's more. Not only did we
have a better tour guide in Berlin but just the information and attractions were
better. Our guide was Marcin (Mar-sin) and he was from Britain. But the
actually tour was much more lecture. We probably only went to 5 different
sights, but it was still a 3 and 1/2 tour. We just sat and listened to him
ramble on and on. And a lot of the time he was trying to sell the other tours
that the company offers. I don't know I just didn't enjoy it much.
He also made some cheap shots at Americans.... which when half your tour is
American, and you work on a tips only basis probably isn't the best idea. But we
are getting kind of used to that by now.
The tour was good though. Focused a lot on World War II which isn't that
surprising. Munich is also the city where Hitler and nationalism started... so
hearing all of that was cool.
He kinda cut Berlin down for having huge Jewish memorials. Not saying that they
were unimportant, but saying that the Holocaust was such a small piece of German
history that it isn't necessary to have city block sized memorials... which I
definitely don't agree with.
He also made comments about how the Holocaust was a huge genocide, but that the
Native American genocide was much worse.... And I am not objecting to that, but
he just said some things that were a little too opinionated.
Hmm... either way it was a good way to get a feel for the city.
After we stopped and got another cup of coffee and muffin and headed back to the
hostel. Where we warmed up!
It is absolutely freezing outside!
We finished our season of Dexter :( And now we are going to get some much
deserved R&R.
Thankfully we have no roommates tonight.
I am also coming down with a cold :( Which is not cool (haha pun intended).
Tomorrow is Dachau... We are going to do a tour through NewEurope, the same
company as the free walking tours. So it is going to be a pretty emotional day.
