Rain rain go awayyyyyyy :(
So I think I could write today's blog in about 3 minutes. Because Meredith and
I did a whole lot of nothing because of the weather.
I woke up around 9ish and went and got some breakfast which consisted of
cornflakes and coffee... Meredith and I then got ready, got directions to the
blind exhibition and then headed off!
Even though it was raining this exhibit was inside, so our plans were not really
affected...
We got off the U-bahn (metro) and followed started searching for the correct
building. We ended up finding the building with the same address, except that
the street number was 6a and not just 6. Because it was pouring out we didn't
want to wander around looking for the correct building, so we figured to just go
in and ask...
Well the center that we were at turned out to be a counseling center. With a
big posters on the door saying "need someone to talk to? Are you lonely? we are
here"... haha so Meredith and I felt really dumb walking through that door. But
it was either that or wander out in the rain.
So we entered...
They were actually really nice, and gave us directions to the blind exhibit,
which was right around the corner. Meredith and I decided that if things always
worked out perfectly and you never got lost or had to ask for directions then
this trip would be really boring!
We found the exhibit with ease, but unfortunately they were full for the day.
Due to the number of people and us needing the tour in English. They had room
for us tomorrow but we are leaving for Prague in the morning :( We should have
made reservations yesterday, but we didn't read that it was recommended or
anything. And they could have been extra busy or something today because of the
weather.
After Meredith and I were in no mood to wander around the city in the rain. So
we decided to head back towards our hostel, but go to the diner we ate at two
days ago and get the tradition Austrian dessert of pancakes with plums.
I also got white coffee (which is an Austrian drink, and like a less sweet
cappuccino and Meredith got Goulash soup) .... It was a good treat to make up
for the rainy day, and then we headed back to the hostel.
I think I mentioned before the "chill out" part of the hostel that consists of a
big mattress and pillows ... well there is also wi-fi there so that is where I
spent the majority of my afternoon. I downloaded some free pilot television
shows and just wasted the day with those and a nap of course.
Meredith, Ryan and I all watched Warehouse 13 ... and it was totally weird. I
wouldn't recommend it.
After Meredith and I walked one store over to the grocery store to get stuff to
cook dinner. I got some garlic bread and green beans, and Meredith got stuff to
make a salad. The hostel has free pasta that we also planned on cooking.
Our dinner was great. It is nice to have something home cooked and we also do
it pretty cheap! After dinner we played cards (Rummy, BS & another one that I
forgot the name of) with Lona, from England and Sefred from New Jersey. Sefred
is so not a New Jersey name.
We played for a couple of hours and had a good time. Meredith killed everyone
in cards almost every game. But then I headed up stairs to pack and sleep.
We had a new person in our room, Suzy from Montreal. She was traveling with her
sister for the last 2 weeks, but is now doing 2 weeks by herself. I am actually
really surprised by the number of young women traveling by themselves.
Oh I think i have also forgot to mention the 2.000, misquito bites I have on my
arms on feet. There are no screens in Europe, so if you open a window you
invite all of nature in and not just the breeze.
So if anyone is looking to start a business, I would suggest a screen window
business in Europe :) Just a thought!
Okay well we are waking up and heading to Prague in the morning!
