Well it has been awhile since we entered anything- been busy.Went out on a fishing charter. Talk about an experience- the seas were heavy 8-10 foot swells that kept the boat a rockin. 5 out of six of us were sick, some worse than others but we all got our limit of fish. We caught ling cod, halibut and rockfish. There was a 81 yr old lady who out did us all- she was the one that didn't get sick!!! Really great time except of course the sea sickness but it could have been worse. Those fish felt like whales when you were pulling them up and then up would come this 15-20 lb fish. our arms were so sore and tired from reeling them in. Advil is our best friend right now. We were out about 100 miles or more into the ocean- a bit nerve racking for these prairie folks. there were even a few whitecaps which got us a bit concerned. One of our party caught a small shark. One person caught a 47lb ling cod. We were hoping for a large halibut 80-100lbs but didn't get one.We are thinking about going out again just for halibut- have to see what we can arrange. We do have a charter booked for salmon on Sept. 1. I guess your limit goes up that day so we will get more bang for our buck. We have about 75lbs of fish in the freezer. Some folks come up here and spend the whole summer fishing and take home a pile of fish. The weather has been kinda crappy so we haven't spent much time enjoying the sun, but we keep ourselves busy. Fishing from the shore is a waste of time and there is very little bank fishing allowed, so you need to go out in a boat if you want fish. The silver salmon run should be on now but for some reason is late this year- who knows why. Quiet day today spent catching up on some rest and reading. Will see what tomorrow brings.
