Busy day today- we aren't too impressed with Anchorage, so drove today (just in the truck) to Whittier which is a tiny fishing village that has ferry service and cruise ship service but not much else. We had to go through a one way tunnel- 2.5 miles that has a strict schedule as vehicle traffic have to share with the railway. Quite interesting. Then we went on to Seward and spent a lot of time on the docks looking at all the boats, ships etc. There was a cruise ship in the harbor so it was fun to watch the passengers doing their thing. The fishing here must be phenominal as we saw several outfitters comi ng in with their catch and cleaning all the fish for their customers. They had small and huge salmon, halibut and even a few ling cod, and a bright salmon colored fish- not salmon- as well as black rock fish. Certainly wetted our appetite to get out on an excursion and catch some fish. The views would be wonderful if the sun would come out- still overcast with intermittent rain. Hopefully will get better. Saw a couple of Doll sheep on the mountainside today and the wreckage of a motorhome accident- kinda wakes you up. We are heading with the motorhome to Soldotna in the morning. Oh have to brag- Connor called us today and told us he made the European Hockey team, so will be heading off next spring to play. Very exciting.
