Today we're leaving Portland after being here for about 3 days. We've been staying at Nicole and Brandon's (Ani's sister), and they have been so welcoming and helpful. Obviously they've given us a place to stay, but they also let us use their bikes and having home cooked meals is always a bonus.
Some of the things we've done since getting here include, going to the Japanese gardens, checking out the downtown area (both on foot and with bikes), and racing Go-Karts. The Japanese gardens were pretty cool, but a little smaller and less authentic looking than we expected. To get there we had to hike for about 40min up the hill through a foresty area. My fish bone thongs are paper thin at the moment, so taking them for a full day of walking wasn't the best idea. They're still in one piece though. After that we tried walking down the hill into the city, but took a wrong turn somewhere and wasted about 2 hours of our day. Plus walking up and down those hills sucked. When we got to the downtown area (Pioneer Square) we some some pretty sweet hackey sacking goin on, and also there this one really wierd guy who was doin all sorts of wierd moves and manouvers. Chris managed to get a few videos of him, so I'm gonna have to post those as soon we get his camera connected.
There's this really huge bookstore here called Powells, which we went to yesterday on our bikes. I got a book called "USA and Canada on a Shoestring", which is basically the same as the big USA book I've got now, except its all filled with relevant info for backpackers and people on the cheap. After Powells, we went down the road to a place called Henry's for happy hour. Got a couple of pints and some really cheap food. Nice place. Then last night me, Chris and Brandon went Go-Karting which was really fun.
So today we woke up a little early (7am), to pack up and head up to Seattle. Its only a 2-3 hour drive, or something like that, so we should have a pretty good day ahead. We might try and get some tickets to see a baseball game tonight as we found this guy who's selling 2 box tickets for $50. Hopefully he hasn't sold them yet.
Now I gotta get ready so we can hit the road.
