Vegas was hot. So far on this trip we had experienced some "nice" days which to some might have been hot, but once we hit Nevada, things really got warm. Just the way I like it. So we convoyed to Vegas with our mate Pat who was staying with the girls in Utah the same time we were, except he was heading straight through to Long Beach. We bought some walkie talkies and used them between the cars which made the time go a lot quicker.
So we pulled into Vegas at in the early evening and made our way down the strip and to our hotel (Tropicana). I couldn't believe how cheap we ot the rooms for. We payed basically the same as if we were staying at any of the hostels we had been at so far. Plus we got use of the pool, and nice confy bed to sleep in, and plus being right on the strip rocked pretty hard. So our first night we just wandered around Vegas checking out as much as we could. It's a lot of walking, but we were use to that by now. We basically walked down the strip and back, checkin out all the sweet hotels. It was really all a bit overwhelming. So much to see, and so many nudie cards coming our way. We couldn't help but collect as many as we could. We had a pretty fair stack by the end of it.
Next morning we spent lounging by the pool getting. It was so nice to just relax like that. After that I think we went back to our room and got ready to get our dance on. We had a few drinks and then decided to head next door to the MGM to a place called Tabu. We got their just as a fashion show was finishing which kinda sucked, but we managed to have a damn good time regardless. I ended up spending far too much money at that place last night which kinda bummed me out in the moning. I guess I was a little too generous with the drink purchases.
So we figured out that Chris has a knack for winning on the slots. His very first pull he won about $15 bucks wit a quarter, and then later on he won about that again, by just acting on a feeling. As he was doing that, I was losing everything I bet. Not cool.
On night number 2 we went and checked out the Stratosphere. It's basically the tallest building in Las Vegas and on the top there's 3 rides. Check out http://www.stratospherehotel.com/attractions.html to see what it's all about. Basically there's on rides that shots you straight up, from the to of the building, one that basically throws you off the edge, and then another that hangs you over te edge and spins you like crazy. On each one of those rides me and Chris questioned our sanity. The view from the top was amazing, and the rides were such a rush.
On our last night we went to see the Fremont Street Experience. It's just a little bit out from the main strip of Vegas, and has this huge LCD screen over head for about 3 blocks. Every our they put on a little 5 minute display on it that is really an amazing thin to see. There was also this guy there that did these awsome spray paint paintings of ladscapes and cool images, and he does them right there in the street in about 10min. It's really hard to believe what he's just done after he's finished a picture.
On our last day we woke up early (8:30am), packed up, and headed west to California. Long Beach was the destination, and we were excited to get there.
