We did a lot of driving today! But it all started off with a few games of UNO out by the pool; Brittney worked on her tan (reapplying sunscreen every fre minutes), and Phillip read in the shade protecting his burnt back!
After a lunch at Bubba's Burger, we headed up to Waimea Canyon to check out the most northern look-out on the West side of the island at Koke'e lookout. Unfortunaly the only thing to look out to was being inside a cloud. No cliffs, no ocean, just whiteness. But we did get an opportunity to take some pictures at a Waimea Canyon look out about 10 miles down the road.
Then we went to our favorite beach on Kauai. The Polihale (Po-lee-Ha-Lee) State Park. The dirt road was actually redone so it wasn't a mine-field worth of pot holes, at least untl the last 1/4 mile, where one unexpecting pot hole made us very glad that we bought the "just in case" cheapest car protection plan from the rental car company!
The beach was as beautiful as we both had remembered it. 6 miles of sand with a private island view on one side, and 300 foot cliffs jetting out of the pacific on the other side. 6 miles of beach and it was Brittney and Phillip and a family of 4. We were able to find a great spot but after 25 minutes we got scared off by the darkest, biggest cloud we had seen all day.
After a shower back at the Timeshare we had a hardy dinner at Kalaheo Steak and Ribs. It was so big in fact that we were both literally sweating from the meal. We aren't sure if it was the meat, the labor of cutting, or AC that didn't quite seem to make it into our corner, but we got a good laugh out of the waitress when we ask her about if that was normal reaction to the food.
Tomorrow starts early with us traveling at 6:45 AM to Captain Andy's. Hope the sea isnt to choppy, and the fish like us snorkling!
