Well our last day at Ephelia. What amazing place!! We've already decided to come back here for our 10th anniversary ;D We're sitting on our verandah (Indian word by the way, as is bungalow, random piece of info) sipping champagne, as you do, imagining what La Digue has in store. If it's as amazing or better than Mahe, which it's supposed to be, I'll be happy. Think it's got infinitely more wildlife to interest Tom so he'll be chuffed :)
We had yet another stunning dinner tonight yet think we're both losing weight, possibly because the food here is more meat and fish driven rather than carb laden so we're eating healthier. We went on a bizarre tour today, I say bizarre because if it was in Doonawanly it would equate to David taking us up Flynn's field and down to the river via the most difficult route over boulders lol. It was Vivian taking us to the famously mythical Steps of Ephelia which I've been looking forward to seeing since we first chose Mahe, but the route took me back to my Tomboy days climbing rocks and jumping onto sloppy leaf ridden paths, who'd pay to go to Alton Towers, this was a rush all of its own, especially as the drop on the side was into the sea :0 so to continue, he suggests we take off our shoes and walk the slippy rocks barefoot whilst being crashed at by waves on the side of a low kind of cliff, seriously too risky, I know this might sound cautious but it was really too dangerous so everyone agreed (except a mad German) and we turned back and visited the presidential villa instead. Oh WOW, it's 9100 euros per NIGHT!!!! If we win the lotto......... But fab photos of tropical vegetation and rocks which made me happy and fab photos of reptiles and palm spiders which made Tom happy, you can hold palm spiders by the way, they're apparently harmless. I will do this before I come home, I like spiders ( we have a resident family at Coolfree, I talk to 'Harry', the 'dad' and they eat the flies, harmonious relationship :) )
So to end, we're so enjoying our honeymoon, we brought magazines and books with us but not touched them. Our days consist of beach walks, kayaking (although slightly perilous in the waves), swimming in the sea, snorkelling, eating, drinking vast quantities of water, peppermint tea and having an Eku or Seybrew (Seychellois beer) before dinner, and watching free movies before bedtime :) absolute heaven! My husband is enjoying himself immensely, I have playfully referred to him as Karl Pilkington on a few occasions only because I think he's surprised himself at how much he's enjoying a tropical climate, he really didn't know what to expect so he's delighted and rightly so, he and I deserve an experience of a lifetime...... and that's exactly what this is! :) xxxxx
