We didn't wake up until 4:00 pm. Our friend, Sylvia, was back from Switzerland by then. I felt guilty about sleeping-in at first but the previous night was well worth it. I knew I'd be rested for the upcoming days and I was going to need to be. Sylvia made us some food and we took a metro to a bus station where we were meeting for an overnight bus to Amsterdam. We got there a little early so we wandered around looking for somewhere to get food. We went up to the street level but it wasn't a street. It was La Defense! I had never heard of La Defense before then but it was mind blowing. The buildings are all so new compared to the rest of Paris. The Grande Arch was huge and the entire span of the place was gigantic. We stood there, staring up in awe for a good ten minutes.
After admiring La Defense, we continued our search for food. What I really wanted was a crepe but the only place open was a McDonald's. We had to settle for gross, fast-food. We went back down to the station and started drinking the rum we brought with us for the 8 hour ride. Finally, we could board the bus and get going. We had the whole back row to ourselves which was awesome. I couldn't sleep at all during the ride so Julia and I watched movies on my iPod. We stopped in Belgium which was pretty cool, even though it was around 2am.
