We arrived at Centraal Station around 6am. We had to sit in the station for about an hour until the trams started running. We got some food in the meantime and people watched while sitting on our luggage. I noticed some people were wearing fireman uniforms as some sort of fashion statement. I loved Amsterdam already. It took us so long to find our hostel and in the search a man rode past us on his bike wearing only a thong. Awesome! There weren't many people around to give us directions b/c it was still so early. After stopping to eat some toasties in a cafe by the canal, we finally found our hostel, the Radio Inn Youth Hostel, over by the Prinsengracht Canal on a street named Utrechtsedwarsstraat. At the end of our street was the Amstel Canal, the namesake for Amstel Beer. We took a nap before going into town and checking out some of the coffee shops. After smoking some NYC Diesel, we went across the street and got amazing kebabs at a snack shack. One of my friends passed out and fell onto an old man while we were on line. She was okay though, just dehydrated, so it was pretty funny.
We wandered some more after that, ate more snacks, stopped by the hostel and drank some beer, and then over to the Red Light District. So surreal. I never would have thought I'd ever be there in my life. The trip was so unplanned and awesome. Traveling like this is the kind of stuff I want to do all the time now. We drank lots of beer in the Red Light District, drank some 'shroom tea, smoked weed, ate pot brownies, and did some more drugs before eventually heading back to the hostel. We had to take a cab because I messed up my knee in Paris trying to jump over car blocker poles. When we got back we smoked with our roommates, two Greek guys who said they were all about partying, but were home asleep before us every night. I wish I could remember more in between but hey, that's Amsterdam.
