Hong Kong to Heathrow
Our body clocks had adjusted properly today and we got woken up by our alarm which was good but meant we didn't get time for a gym session, instead we had to pack up our bags and get ready to move on. However Trav was determined that there was time for buffet breakfast! When we got down stairs we got rushed to check out as the bus was outside waiting for us to pick us up. We were going to get there ourselves via train but after yesterdays adventure we chickened out and decided it was just easier and better if we had HK$340 and get the bus that dropped us off at the door of the airport.
We got the early bus and lucky we did as our plane was really full and most seats were already taken. At the airport after going through customs and getting our bags checked about three times, we wondered around. Just before our flight Trav decided he wanted something to eat and went and got something for lunch. On his way back he found HK$100!
This flight was 12 hours and I was dreading it. I thought the 8 hour one was bad enough. Trav couldn't wait to see what he could watch this time! Once we got on the flight, they started offering us drinks, both people on either sides of us slept the entire flight and Trav kept getting up and down, he was more restless than me on this flight! He decided the best way to calm down and try to sleep would be to have a glass of wine, and one glass turned into seven! Needless to say he slept very well for the remaining of the trip and didn't watch much TV!
We arrived at the Heathrow International Airport at7:30pm (local time) and caught a free bus out of the airport to what we thought was to our hotel. After walking a few km's in the wrong direction, we thought we better ask someone where our hotel was. We had to walk back the way we had come and a couple of km further in the other direction! We didn't get to our hotel until after 10pm that's how long we were walking and did I mention how heavy our bags are!?!?!
The weather here is not as bad as we were expecting, it was about 10 degrees when we arrived, it was fresh and I'm sure Melbourne is much warmer however we were expecting colder. We pretty much just crashed when we got to our room which possibly could have been the furthest one away in the entire hotel and the guy at reception tried telling Trav that he was a day late, I was NOT in the mood to be told something like that but as it turned out they had checked us in early.
Tomorrow we move on again, so stay posted!
Sweet dreams,
Bree and Trav
