Brenton Kovacs's Travels
The destination today is a little village called Ramelton. Its near the Northern Island/UK border and the city of Londonderry. I am staying in a house found on airbnb. The drive takes about 3 hours. I stop off in a place called Letterkenny and walk around the high street and the main shopping mall before heading to my accommodation.
I have chosen a house rather than camping for a few reasons. The first is the rain and wind. The second is there are no camp grounds near Londonderry that sound any good. One of them is just a open paddock, which did not sound very inviting. No recreation room, nothing. So the house it is.
I arrive and am greeted by Robert and Anne and their 3 dogs. It is a very nice house and my room for the next 2 nights is very good. We sit for a few hours chatting away over afternoon tea.
They are both out tonight, so i am left looking after the dogs.
Robert tells me he is lucky to be alive after needing a kidney transplant. He was only given a few months to live.
Tomorrow i will head into Londonderry to do some sightseeing. Mt time in Ireland is running out. Next stop is Belfast for 3 nights then its onto Scotland.
The morning starts out with a nice breakfast cooked by Anne. We have a great conversation over breakfast, but i must get out to visit Derry. Its a 40 minute drive. Lucky in way its sunday as all the street parking is free. I take a long walks around the Walled City, taking in the sights. It seems to be nice clean city, at least what is see of it.
Back to my accommodation late in the afternoon and i settle down for some more long chats with Robert. He is an engineer/business person and has some many interesting things to talk about. Such great hosts. After tea we continue our chat, where i learn so much about all the places Robert has visited. Dont get to bed till after 11pm.
