Well day 1 of our 137 day (20 weeks) trip has finally arrived . After a very late night packing and getting the house organised we set off for our first destination of Renmark (530km).We were hoping to leave by 9:00am, but as expected we were running late and left at 10:45. We both had a strange but good feeling as we drove out of town. I think it will take a while for us to realise that we will not just be home in 2 weeks.
I don’t think we had even left Echuca and we got our first wave from an oncoming caravaner. I think we counted about 20 waves between Echuca and Cohuna! So it did not take Dale long to perfect the art of the caravaners wave.
Our first stop was Ouyen, 2 ½ hrs down the track. We stopped at the local footy ground for lunch and Soph had a run around and play on their playground. I would have to say it is one of the best playgrounds that Dale and I have ever seen. Well done Spot and Lyndal!!! Soph did not want to leave.
With the SA border crossing fast approaching, we all had a big job of eating all the fruit that we had cleared out from home. When we finally hit the border we were lucky there was a long que of cars behind us as the inspector was very close to making us unhitch the van so is something he could look in the boot.
It was dark by the time we arrived in Renmark, we had an early night . I would have to say the girls were both great with all the travelling we did today. With 2 more big days ahead of us lets hope this continues!
