19/5 – 20/5 Coober Pedy
After getting ready to head off this morning we realised that we had been camped next to the famous Jack Absolum - Boxer, Artist and Author extroadinaire.
Soph had a run around and play and then it was time to hit the long and straight road to Coober Pedy (520km).
We stopped off at Glendambo for our standard Ham, cheese and relish(thanks mum) sandwich for lunch. Soph had a play on a good old fashioned wooden swing that gave her as much enjoyement as all the other parks.
It was a bit harder in the car with the girls today. The fact that there was pretty much nothing between Port Augusta and Coober Pedy did not help. So it was time to pull out the trusty Play School dvd.
After setting up camp we decided to have a drive around town and get our bearings. I would have to say that getting your first impression of Coober Pedy at night is probably not a good idea. The town looked a lot better the next day!
Higlights from our 2 nights in Coober Pedy were:
• Pizza from our caravan park, very close to the best pizza we have ever had. Soph even asked if they could make her a chocolate one. He was seriously considering it but then thought it would be easier to just give her a Kit-Kat.
• Fayes House
• Old Time Miners Museum
• Dale stopped by the local footy club to pump up his footy and said it looked like one of the best facilities he had see.
