The Exploratorium is closed on Monday's. Guess when we had planned to go to the exploratorium. That's right, Monday. We planned out today and tomorrow and everything slotted in perfectly and the fact that it was closed was a real blow but we never waste our time! Especially when it is our last full day in san francisco! Instead we went to the golden gate bridge park. We were told that the tower there has great views and it shows you the whole park. When we got to the tower we learnt that on Monday's, nearly everything is closed! It was very disappointing but like I said before, we never waste our time, so we had a lovely walk around the park and came across something that was actually open! It was the California Academy of science. It was expensive but worth it. In the building there was a swamp, rainforest, aquarium, an awesome planetarium and a snakes and lizards exhibition thing. It was so cool! The first thing we looked at was the three story rainforest in a big glass dome overlooking that tunnel thing where you can walk through this glass tube thing that had heaps of the ocean life. It is really weird looking over it because it looks like all the people in the tube are in the water with the sea life. If you want to see what it looks like look at the photos. Once we got to the top of the rainforest we took an elevator below the rainforest into the aquarium. We went in the tunnel and it was a bit nerve racking having massive fish above you! Unfortunately we had to rush out of the aquarium and into the planetarium. It was so good! The presentation was about life. It was so interesting. Mum and dad said it was the best planetarium they have ever seen! It was pretty good. After that we had a quick look around the rest of the place and took a bus to downtown. From there we walked to the cable car stop to get a trip down to pier 33 (Alcatraz) we waited and waited and waited but nothing came! We decided to walk it! It was way too far to walk and we wouldn't of made it in time if the cyclo hadn't rode past and taken us there. Wow, how fast he went! "He had legs of iron," is what mum & dad kept saying to him. I think they are right! It was such a relief knowing that we were not late for the boat. It was really good seeing the jail. I won't write down the details because the pictures show that for you. On the way back to the youth hostel we stopped by an ice cream shop which made dad feel sick but he got on with it. We had a nice relaxing end of day. That night I was so tired I fell asleep as soon as I laid my floppy body in my nice & cozy bed! That was a good day!
