Hi guys
first thing we want to say is thanks for all the messages and emails.. Here's today's update
Preparing for the big jungle trip
We're back in KK staying with our friends Pie and Clare and are about to set off on a rather special 6 day trip around the top of Sabah with our guide, Eric, who has guided such luminaries as David Attenborough. We head north today to Kudat to see some Bajou ( sea gypsy ) villages before heading inland to stay in a longhouse for the night. We have small gifts and toys for the children of the villagers. Sleeping without aircon or fans will be much more getting to taste the real Borneo albeit for a short time.
Saturday we are off to see proboscis monkeys in the swamps to the East and Sunday to see orang utans which I haveto admit, we are all very excited about. Monday sees us going to Gomantong Caves to see where they collect birds' nests for the legendary soup and see bats, giant centipedes and poss more orang utans outside. We are also being taken on a number of boat rides to see monkeys, salt water crocodiles and stay for a few days in an amazing lodge on the banks of a big river. Tuesday is a day trecking in the jungle looking for Pygmy elephants before finishingthis part of the trip in a very refined way in Sandakan where they have a beautiful restaurant calledthe English Teas Rooms perched ontop ofabig hill overlooking the bay.
There that's the plan... There may notbe any Internet access for a while so we may notbe ableto tell you what it was all like until we get back to Kota Kinabalu on the 23rd. ... Bloody hell that's almost Christmas already. wow.
Bye for now ... Will update when we can, now where are my jungle boots?
