This morning we woke at 5:30 am to take down our hammocks and to say goodbye to our lovely jungle camp. I think overall this has probably been my favourite camp, I think because out of all the camps it has lived up to my expectations to most really. Our boat was a little late, but we still managed to grab our big bags and change into our nice and clean outfits to wear at Sepilok, we have our final breakfast at the jetty in the restaurant.
The journey to Sepilok is quite relaxing, it is also very cool on the bus which is nice, we arrive at around 8:30am so we had plenty time before we needed to go in, so we had some ice creams, I had a crunch ice lolly which was so nice. When we entered Sepilok we headed straight for the main viewing platform, there were two orang-utans who were having some lunch.
After this we headed to the nursery, so that you don't disturb the babies you are in a room and view them through the glass, there were five orang-utans who were playing and eating, the keepers kept telling them off when they went on the ground as in the wild they would avoid the ground as it is the most dangerous place for them.
After this we went back to the main viewing platform as the orang-utans have breakfast at 10am, three orang-utans arrived in total, all females one had a very young baby with her. After this we watched a video about Sepilok which was quite interesting, we then went the gift shop which was really poor. There were so many western tourists, they would make quite a bit of money if they improved the shop.
We had a quick break so some of us went to the cafe, I had a lovely drink of carrot juice, after this we headed across the road to visit the Bornean Sun bears, they look like very small grizzly bears who are endemic to Borneo and like the Orang-utans they have lost a lot of their habitat.
When our day here is over we get back on the coach and head to our B&B it must be a ten minute drive at the very most, when we arrive we have lunch. It was very chaotic, they took a while but it was nice when it arrived, I had cheese burger and chips.
We are staying in two lodges here, I'm in Hornbill Lodge in an upstairs room that I'm sharing with Amy. Our rooms are very nice, we both have a good size single, a bathroom with a western toilet and an electric shower which means warm water! Our room also has a lovely balcony.
Our dinner was sweet and sour fish which was really lovely, it was a bit spicy and the actual fish was fresh tuna. After lunch a group of us at Hornbill lodge had a Dead Sea face mask which was nice, the boys loved it. This evening I had my first warm shower of the trip, I haven't felt this clean in a long time.
In the late evening Sabrina and I go to the cafe here to have some drinks and to try to use the face time, the wifi here is just about good enough to do a voice call on face time. We have our latest night in a while here, as comfy as the hammock was its nice to sleep in a proper bed.
