Today it was up before dawn for hot air ballooning over the Valley of the Kings and Luxor. Breathtaking. Unfortunately though we did manage to land in the middle of a sugar cane field which was a little less than comfortable.
Then it was a 10km donkey ride from the west bank to the Valley of the Kings. Visited the tombs and walked about the valley. Then it was on to Deir el medina which had the most impressive paintings and carvings I've seen yet. Lastly we visited Medinet Habi temple which was again, simply breathtaking.
Our guide for the last couple of days has been this young egyptologist who we've been getting along quite well with. A few of us went out to lunch with him. He took us to his favorite local restaurant with the most delicious koshari. Yum! He shouted us which I felt kind of bad about. He then also took us to one of his local cafes where we drank tea and played dominoes for a while. Later on I went to the Irish pub with one of the other Aussies here. Then met up again with our young guide and he took us to some local bars. Out late and had great time.
