We had arranged to meet Mr Lock at his restaurant for 9.30, he didn't say we could meet him @ 8.30am but i turned down his offer…
It was literally tipping it down today! He gave James a fully waterproof outfit, Trousers, Jacket & Helmet with a visor He gave me a poncho, which was basically and oversized plastic carrier bag & a helmet with not visor. Good job i decided not to wear any make up today! :/
We set off and our first destination is something they call a pagoda, i still dont really know what this is but we got to see some monks do a morning pray thing which was actually pretty cool! Although i had no change to give a donation, I am such a bad person. But we managed to sneak off just before they finished so they didn't see this, Sorry monks!
After this he took us down some 'local' streets which i'm sure is vietnamese slang for extremely bumpy roads, i nearly fell off about 20 times, along with getting absolutely dredged i was having an awesome time! :/
These streets did take us to an amazing view though, It had a war bunker ontop of this hill and the river was below us, oh and there was a cow i was very happy about this & took many pictures until it started staring at me and then i asked to leave… .:/
He then took us to a place where they made incent sticks , it was cool to see but they were making cinnamon and i don't care much for that :/ i was tempted to buy some sandalwood ones but CBA!
Just along the road he dropped us out a tomb to go and have a look around, Now i tomb in my eyes in like a place where they keep dead bodies but this wasn't, It was just basically a massive piece of land with loads of different temple things over it where the king of something used to live. Not anymore though, he's dead and i have no idea where his body is. It was ok, but i would chose to go again.
Our last stop was the heavenly Pagoda, again i still don't really know what this means. It was nice views over the river but by this point i was literally as wet as any one human being could be so i was wasn't really feeling it.
There was however a cool classic car there, which looked very out of place but the story behind it was it used to belong to a monk who drove it to the middle of the road, got out and set fire to himself and just lef the car. He did this in protest.
It didn't take too long to get back to our hostel and was straight in a hot shower, it was glorious! James was all high and mighty and very dry so he did not need one…
We we're both craving an Indian so in the evening we went to one just down the road, it was Ok but unlike any other chicken korma i have ever had. Once i got my head around the fact it wasn't a chicken korma it was actually quick delicious, James had a tikka which he enjoyed. So all in all a success!
