We managed to have abit of a lie in today, yay we love lie ins!
Once up I decided today was the day to refresh myself, much to James's horror. I ended up taking an hour to get ready after washing and blow drying my hair and applying some make up, shock. And what happened, I got told of for taking too long to get ready so this is why I always look like crap. Brilliant. (Were travelling so just get out and get involved, she always looks beautiful anyways).
It was lunchtime by the time we headed out and James wanted to take me somewhere to cheer me up. I had a bit of a paddy in the morning about Christmas and was feeling abit low. So we rocked up at an awesome Aussie bar, just what I needed to cheer me up :) We got on the Beer Laos straight away and it was served in an ice bucket… forget about the champagne over here!
I opted for the good old margarita pizza and James took on the Aussie burger, it literally will filled with everything. Pineapple, onions, bacon, cheese the lot! But it was awesome :-)
Once we had filled up we planned on taking a boat journey to see some caves and stuff but to be honest we both couldn't really be bothered so just set out to take a walk instead. We stumbled across what looked like a very unsafe bridge, we decided to take a walk across it obviously. We had to pay 80p to do this though and on the walk back there was actually a couple arguing the fact they had to pay 80p… I don't think they were realising it was going to cost them so little as in Laos it costs 10,000 kip we are actually officially millionaires here haha .
The bridge was made out of bamboo and only open for 6 months in the dry season as the rainy season just destroys it. It ran across the Mae Kwong river to a nice little restaurant and village, they had the big pillows on the floor and stuff so we got comfy and chilled out there for abit! I had a Laos cocktail called Lime Lao Lao…. it just tasted like lime nothing very exciting about it.
We made our way back to the hostel and stopped for milkshakes on the way, we spotted the sign so had to get involved obviously! We were going to get a Laos massage but when we stopped outside a place to take a look, the woman standing at the front kept clicking her fingers really loudly and this annoyed me so I walked away lol
After chilling in the room for an hour we went back out to the night market, I had decided I wanted some more hippie trousers and also some shorts. James joined in on this and brought himself 2 pairs of massive hippie trousers too, I love them :-D
We had already decided where to go that night, a place called Laos Laos beer garden after we had heard about this BBQ thing they did. It was amazing, they bring all these things out to your table and literally stick a big BBQ in the middle of it. We got to cook everything ourselves which i think is abit of a rip of really but it was good fun and James just loves to get involved. We got pork, Chicken & Buffalo. All very tasty! We also used it to make some soup, it was delicious. But at one point James sneaked some chilli's in which caught me by surprise. Naughty Jamesy!
A couple on the table next to us ordered the same thing so we got chatting, Vicky & Ryan from Reading & Wales. We had couple more drinks there and then they took up to a place called Utopia. Wasn't what I expected when we walked in, it was like backpacker central! Music, Pillows, Pool & Volleyball. We managed to find some seats that looked like stone henge… But unfortunately Luang Prabang had a midnight curfew so the bar closed at 11.30 and so we had to head back. There's just one place that stays open til late and thats a bowling alley but seeings as we had to be up early for our bus journey we thought safer to go to bed!
Hopefully to meet up with these guys again in Vang Vien for some tubing!
J&K over and out!
