There I was, halfway through a second bag of babybels, when it came to me. Why not do a farewell tour of the U.K? I suppose it's the least we owe the old girl, being the country of our births and all. From top to toe we shall scour this green and sometimes unpleasant land - from Shetland to London and from Wales to Lancashire, to Glenfinnan on the West coast of Scotland where we shall be married. Had I already mentioned that?
I'd be lying if I said this was a well laid out plan - in truth we just happened to be going to these places anyway. But its a good excuse to soak up as much of the place we've both called home for nearly 24 years - and perhaps remind ourselves that we do ultimately want to come back!
And so...London! It's funny how you can have such ambivalent feelings about the same place. It's home to some of our best friends, Helen and Oliver, as well as a decent bunch of our relatives. I've always associated it with adventure - I've flown out of it to some pretty amazing places. But I think that's the whole point with me. I like to visit London, but pretty soon I'm ready to move on somewhere else!
We spent a very cosy day in Helen and Oliver's flat in Clapham, followed by a stroll in Battersea Park. Which is another thing about London that surprises me - the amount of green spaces there actually are!

Judith Excuse me Mr Pye, I have two points to make. 1. Do you really think it is fair to bring me to the brink of tears on a Tuesday evening?! 2. Why is Devon not on your list of destinations??
