It is currently just below freezing outside, a lot warmer than in recent weeks. The house is barely dry from a burst pipe just before christmas, and yet it will probably all happen again tomorrow. The shower froze up this morning after even more snowfall.
Don't get me wrong, I love living here. Seven miles to the nearest shop, no pub for four and only cows for company. I could quite happily spend the rest of my days here, in what is quite honestly one of the most beautiful locations around. Yet a combination of a poor economic climate and, more largely, an insatiable desire for adventure spurs us both on to pastures new.
We both know there is a big world out there. From having interrailed round Bosnia, Albania and Macedonia, to watching the sunrise over Maccu Piccu in Peru. From the Mongolian steppe to Siberian tundra and Ukrainian borscht, you might say that between us we've had our share already. In fact, we both feel the opposite, and the more we see and do the more we realise what is still out there.
In the grand scheme of things, this blog is just a snapshot of our move to New Zealand. I know its not going to be earth shattering, but still, we're gonna give it a bloody good go!
