Hello! We are a week in! It seems crazy, it feels like a lifetime, and we've managed to squeeze in as much in the last few days!
We had one day in Bangkok before catching the sleeper train at 6pm so we headed out to see the Grand Palace. It was pretty impressive! Everyone had to cover up legs and shoulders but luckily I had brought my sarong and a cardigan just in case, otherwise we would have had to hire clothes! It was VERY hot wandering around in the sun in a cardigan but nevermind! In the couple of hours we were there we managed to get stopped twice by Thai school kids who were doing a school report involving interviews with foreigners in English! Quite funny, but their English is very good for 13 year olds!
Lunch was a bit more of a hassle as none of the street food is vegetarian! We wandered for ages down loads of back streets before I gave up and joined Ollie with his prawn Pad Thai from a stall, me eating my crisps from 7/11 (supermarket). We tried some of the fruits after lunch - dragon fruit and another one that was a little like a lychee but we're not sure of the name!
When we arrived at the train we couldn't work out the beds at all - they just looked like seats! Turned out they folded out cleverly into bunks. We were late booking so had ended up with two top bunks opposite each other, meaning we had to go to bed when the ladies underneath us decided to! That was 8:30... Ollie was far too tall for the beds and overall we didn't get much sleep, but when we got up at 6 we were near ChangMai!
