We visited the ancient temples of Angkor - wow so amazing. We spent the day looking around in absolute awe. It's amazing what people were capable of building so many years ago with no modern machinery. The next day we went to Phnom Penh and visited the killing fields and genocide museum, really sad but interesting. The museum was acutally an old school which the leader of the Khmer Rouge turned into a prison where people against him were tortured and inprisoned. Its really sad but so real, especially to the people of Cambodia.
We in Krabi now staying near Mekong river. Tomorrow we hiring bicyles and riding to see the rare irrawaddy dolphins so should be a good day out. We cycled through the local villages to get to where the dolphins were, and greeted by local children as well as local people young and old while riding past. They were so friendly and intrigued by these foreign people riding through their village. We toook a boat out to see the dolphins, wow, they are so beautiful, they came right up to the boat and spashed about. There are only about 70 left in the world so we were really lucky to see so many. Their colour is quite blue which is amazing to see in the thick brown water of the Mekong.
While we were back in Phnom Penh we visited a local weaving village as well as a wildlife sanctuary about 40 kms out of town. We got to see sun bears, gibbons, black asian bears, elephants and tigers to name a few of the amazing animals. The sanctuary is for abused animals so it was quite touching to see.
