Day 3 in the Congo:
Today is day three of my adventure to the Congo which
is also called the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I have
finally learned their language which is French, so now I can
easily communicate with the locals without my translator.
Today I am going to go around and ask the locals about the
Congo and its economy and government. As I got to
walking down the street, I noticed that most of the stores
and markets were local. This made me realize that they
were probably capitalism. The stores all looked kind of run
down though, which was probably from the recent decline
in the economy due to the war.
I went into one of the nicer markets and spoke with
the manager about the economy. After I asked a few
questions about the economy, I asked about their
government. He answered "republique," which means
'republic' in English. After asking a few more questions I
grabbed some chicken from the butchers market and went
to my five star hotel the Laico Maya-Maya. To cook it and
get some well needed rest.
