Hello everyone, we have now arrived in Brisbane after meeting up with the boys last week in Surfers Paradise. Since they have arrived (Nick and David) the trip seems to have turned into an 18-30’s holiday in Malia instead of a working holiday around Australia.lol. With the late night bar crawls, the non-stop dance music, the drunken party girls and the all you can eat buffets..as you can tell we’ve had an excellent time so far!
After the boys had dropped their bags off at the hostel we decided to head down to the beach for a bit of brekie before catching a bit of the surf. Most of our day have been spent either down at the beach with the body boards catching the waves or relaxing in the hot tub at the hostel watching a move on the giant screen over the pool. The first night we headed to a venue called the shack. Now this is our kind of place with beers for 3 dollars (bout 1 pound) and a bit of Indie music on the juke box and that’s before mentioning a few sorts on the dance floor.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when we bumped into the Canadian guys in this place. But there they were drinking the goon as usual; Mitch, Mac and Reader from Sydney. We had already met them again in Byron Bay a couple of days earlier. So it turned out to be a really good night and I’m sure we will see them guys again further up the coast.
The hostel we have been staying in is called the Sleepin Inn (Even though theirs not much sleeping going on!lol) and we have been really lucky with the room we have had as we have had some good old boys staying in the same apartment as us. The apartment sleeps eight so you’ve got Me, Dave, Miller and Nick the English lads, Jake, Rob and Tijn the Dutch boys and Brent the Canadian. We’ve all become really good friend and tend to go out together and have a few international games of football on the beach which England win of course.
On Saturday night it was the famous backpackers bar crawl and it also happened to be the night of my 23rd birthday. These nights are quality with over 100 guests getting picked up in the party bus and taken to the best night spots in town for free booze and food for only 25 dollars. Great times as you can see from the photos I was pretty wasted but I managed to make it to the end of the night before stumbling back to the hostel with my old pal Milton. The next day it was time for me to collect my prezies from the boys. First up was Miller with a nice polo-shirt number, cheers mate I knew you had good fashion taste. Nick delivered with a pair of trainers and Jake and Dave (Shake and Bake pal!) a chocolate cake and card. Cheers boys. Thanx to My Mum and Pops also for the card and present really appreciate it.
That Night the gang from room five headed out for a game of bowling. There was that many of us that we had to spit into two teams. Again a really good night and it made a change from all the beer guzzling of the previous few nights. As per usual (really) I won the first game by a country mile and then let miller win the second.lol.
So on our last day in surfers myself and Miller headed down to the sea front and treated our selves to fish and chips. Well you can only have noodles so many times before you start felling sick at the sight of them..It also meant we escaped the smelly hostel room with the boys laid everywhere with hangovers, not a pretty sight!
But that’s not the end of the story that night me and the boys from room five decided to have one more blow out in Surfers Paradise. All of us ended up on the bar crawl and all got extremely drunk. On our return to the room the drinking continued as well as the noise levels. I think it was around 5am -ish when the manager finally knocked on our door and told us that he had moved two hole rooms (4 and 6) into other apartments because of the noise and chaos we were making, oops! Luckily we were due to check out the next morning and surprise surprise the manager refused to give us our key deposits back ($10). He informed me and Mr. Moore that in his 6 years of running the place this was the worst he had ever seen a room and he was going to have to pay the cleaners extra to clean it. Well me and Dave couldn’t stop laughing and this sounded like a fair price to pay because believe me that room was a state. I hear that they had to call in the nuclear waste disposal unit to clean up!!
So here we are in Brisbane now and it seems quite a cool city, but I think we will have a couple of nights off the ale now until miller returns. Thank you all for your Birthday msg's I have no credit at the moment so when I do I will text ya all. so for now byeeee from Brisbane.
