Wow the Sky dive was amazing,
We arrived in Mission Beach the night before and the first think on the agenda was to book the sky dive. At first it was only going to be Dave and me doing the dreaded jump from 14,000ft but thankfully the boys (Nick and Mill) decided that they would risk there lives and do the jump with us. The receptionist told us that we would be on the first plain up the next morning at 8am. So that was our plans out of the window to go for a drop of Dutch courage first and I dont think there was much sleeping going on that night either as all I could hear was a lot of tossing and turning going on and the flush was getting used a lot in the toilet..
The next morning, looking rather tired the boys managed to drag themselves out of bed to have what could have been their last shower before the bus picked us up at 7.45. The diving instructors were already on board looking a bit hung-over but in a boisterous mood. One of them was even tucking into a puka pie, bearing in mind it was only 8 o'clock in the morning! But thankfully he turnd out to be Millers instructor. After signing a few insurance wavers, I mean it doesn't take long to sign your life away (about 5 minutes) dotting the I's and crossing the T's on what could have been our last few moments in this world, as the form was asking such questions as next of kin. This wasn't good for certain peoples nerves (Dave) as they were already bricking it before reading this form.
We final arrived at the airfield 10 minutes later and for some strange reason we had all opted to be filmed for the event. So as soon as we stepped foot of the bus the cameras were in our faces, embarrassing. The safety briefing was just that brief, it lasted for all of 5 minutes but none of it went in because we were all to worried what we were looking like on the cameras (bunch of pansies I know!). We then split up with our separate instructors to do a little speech for the DVD before we boarded the plain. My instructor was the main man Rob, by the way what a legend but he did make me look like a bit of a plonker on the DVD as many of you will see.lol.
Before we knew it we were 7000ft in the air in this little plane and the sights were breathtaking. But the experience was made even better because it was only us boys in the plane and a lot of banter was going on as people were starting to get a little bit panicky (Mill) as he was sat next to the open door 14000ft in the sky. The next thing I new was the pilot shouted 14000ft and muggings here was the first to be pushed to the door and launched out of the plain. Now I can't explain the rush of freefalling for 60 seconds but unfortunately for me and great for you guys you can see the expressions on my face as it was all captured on DVD, like I said embarrassing. As Rob pulled the chute I was speechless and all he kept saying to me was "welcome to my office" and by the way what an office this guys got..amazing. After a few spins and flips we finally landed on the beach with the rest of the boys and again the camera was straight in my face so I managed to compose myself for one last interview. I then got chance to speak to the boys about the whole experience and we all said the same thing that this was one of the best moments of our lives.
After thanking the guys for getting us back down to earth alive, we jumped into our car and headed up the coast to Cairns. The next day our DVDs had arrived and it was time to head down to the local internet cafe have a good laugh at them. Some were more embarrassing than others with mine looking like my ear was coming off and Millers top lip curling up so he looked like a chipmunk. But Dave's and Nick's also had funny moments with Nicks nose flaring up and Dave squalling like a girl all the way down. As I said at the start the experience was awesome and the guys did a brilliant job with the DVD's. So I look forward to showing you guys or maybe not!!
