At this moment I am in Valparaiso, Chile. After saying goodbye to Bjorn, Tamara and Peter at the border to Chile, the rest of us went to San Pedro de Atacama, a charming desert town north in Chile. The next day we said godbye to Martin and Sandra, the last guys from the salt lake tour. Me and Christine spent four nights there. We did not get to do all the things we wanted to do there, like sandboarding and star gazing, but we did get to go to the hospital because of christines food poisoning, and I guess you all know how I love do drop by the hospital every town I go to:) We had some good days there at a nice hostal where we met a lot of bacbackers, including some of the people we met in La Paz.
One week ago we took a 24 hours bus to valparaiso. We met Brian and Will who took the same bus as us. When we got here we found a great hostel where we had some good times together. We said goodbye to Brian and Will after three days, we hope go camping with you guys in Argentina! The plan was go move on the Pichilemu, but I guess this is the kind of place you just get stuck at, so we decided to stay a week and the go to Santiago. This is such a beutifull city with lots of colourfull houses in the hills with paintings on them, and nice beaches and a goog nightlife. I did not get to enjoy the nightlife here as much as I wanted to because I got a soar throat, so the last two days I have been lying on the sofa, drinking tea and listening to norwegian radio, which is also a good thing to do once in a while. This is such a nice place, I can´t believi I lived se close for almost a year and never went here. It was good to see the ocean again after almoset a month in the south americal altiplano. It is also nice to be less than 3000 meters above the sea for a change. We went to a real supermarked for the first time since we left oslo, I even found some real earl gray thea. I also found a great second hand book shop with english books, and it wasnt for the fact that I have too carry all my books with me the next two and a half months, I would have bought my own weight in these beautifull old books. So now I have all I need in life:) But someone stole my wallet with lots of cash the other day. But these things happen. I got to visit the police station in stead of the hospital this time which was a nice change..
It was definetly a good change to go from Bolivia to Chile. It's much easies being a backpacker here and the people are so much nicer. No waterbaloons or people shouting gringa:) I'm enjoying every minute of traveling and sometimes I wish this trip would last much longer. My thoughts still often go mack to peru and all the guys from the gap tour. I think this will definetly stand out as one of the highlights of the trip.
Thats it for now, next time I´ll wright about the carneval in salvador.
