After three lovley weeks in Peru the next stop was copacabana, Bolivia. It is a small town next to lake titicaca. We spent two nights there. I was a little sick dureing the stay, but I had a nice time anyway. I only got to spend 40 minutes at isla del sol, and there was no atm in the town. I had already spendt all my "emergencey" dollars, but luckily for me Christine still had not, so she saved me.
After Copacabana we went to La Paz. There we fount a really nice hostal where we stayed 4 nights. We walked around in this chaotic but facinating city during the days and I had some trips to the hospital there. The evenings we hang out at the bar at the hostal and I would pass out at around eleven because of my really strong antibiotics. But at least I got well:)
After five days in la paz oure beckpacks were a lot heavier. We went to Oruro where we stayed one night. Thre was not much to do there. We were just hanging out at an internetcafe and at the plaza. The kids there were thowing waterbaloons at us so that was not very pleasant.
We took the nightbus from Oruro, which was an interesting experience. I had no idea that a busride could be this shaky and uncomfertable. It was extremey hot and the bus was full of people in the aisle. The two first hours of the bus an old man was sitting between my feet. And after that there was two kids lying asleep next to my seat. And in the middle of the night there was a drug control. We arrived in uyuni in the middle og the night and some guy drove us to a hotel where we could get some sleep. We spent one more night in Uyuni before we went on our tour to the salt desert.
The three days tour throug salar de uyuni was really great although I had done it before. We had a great group of seven people in our van and a not so great guide, but at leas he wasnt drunk so I guess we should not complain. But he did manage to give four out of seven food poisoning the last night. But exept from that the tour was great, and I was luckily and surprisingly not one of the people who got sick. I hope I have filled my getting sick quota for a while. The first day we visited the salt desert and the island with all the cactuses. We slept at a hotel made of salt. The second day we visited sierra de siete colores, arbol de piedra and lagos colorados. We had a really good time that evening at our hostal with card games, tequila and a really scary ghost story from Peter. That night/the next morning was not so pleasant for most of us with frequent trips to the toilets. We vere supposed to leave at four in the morning but that was impossible because of all the sick people. Christine got really sick, so we didnt see much of the stuff the third day, but htere was som hot springs I gues were nice.
So we left the county of pan flute music and crossed the border to Chile.
