After a week at Cuba we went to Lima, Peru. The first thing i noticed was how nice all the people there were. And how great the food was. At the hotel wee met the group we were going to travel with the next ten days. We were 14 tourists from different places in the world and one guide. It was a great group of people. The morning after we flew to Puerto Maldonado in the amazon. We spent two nights at a lodge in the amazon. Oure guides, Juan Carlos and Hugo showed us around in the forest and they had special skills of spotting animals. We saw many different animals, birds and reptiles, feeded pirayas and tasted termites.
After two days in the amazon we flew to cuzco where we stayed two days before the inca trail to adjust to the altitude. Half of the group was going to do the inka trail and the rest of the group did other things.
Day one of the Inka trail started great. We walked for maybe four hours and the weather was nice. When we came to the camp I was extremely tired and went to the tent and didn´t get out for a long while. I was getting sick with fever and stomack problems. At first we thaugth it might be the altitude so I got oxygen, but it diddn´t really help. The morning after I went to a doctor up there in the andes where I got an extremely painfull injection and lots of pills. After a while I felt better, so I decided to continue the inka trail. I thaught I would have to do the walk of shame back again, but because of great support from the group and our guide I managed to continue. And I´m very happy that I din because the Inka trail is one of the best things I have done. The nature was overwelming and though it was hard, the porters made it as comfertable for us as it could possibly be. For each of us there was two portes who carried all oure stuff, run in front of us and put upp the tents and made delicious food for us. I had never imagined that the inka trial would be so lucsurious and comfertable. We were also very lucky with the weather, only a couple of ahours with rain. When we arrived at machu picchu the fourth day the sun was shining at the sun gate. It was great to finaly arrive at the destination, but also a little sad bacause I diddn´t feel like going back to the civilisation. The inka trail was such a great experience and I would do it again any time. Preferably with the same group of people:) We spent one day in Cuzco with oure group before they left us for Puno. It was really sad to say goodbye to all the great people in our group and we still miss all of you. Me and Christine spendt a couple of days more in Cuzco where we did rafting and horse backriding. After that we went to Bolivia.
