I am back in Nairobi!Saying good bye to Nkubu was very sad and I had to stop by everybody's houses to say good bye individual which of course means tea, so I had enough to last me for a few months.I met some really quality people that I will miss a lot and have also become an excessive hand shaker, so be ready for that.I will also miss my host sister Brenda's sweet dance moves, but I'm happy to be back and stared at a little less.It was funny because I took a matatu from Nkubu to Nairobi and I got out in the middle of downtown Nairobi with two big backpacks, one on my front and one on my back.I'm sure I looked like quite the idiot or just a stupid tourist, but I still drew less stares than the average day in Nkubu. It was nice to be ignored for a change and not have to greet every person I saw.I met a few friends at the "Chicken Inn" in downtown Nairobi and had a pizza and ice cream for lunch…not up to American standards of course, but still some quality ice cream and pizza. It was good to see Mary and Lillian again…not much has changed with them.Mary still loves her cousin Obama and is thrilled with the Obama for President bumper sticker that Mama Susy sent from the States. Her current dilemma is whether or not she should put the bumper sticker on the bumper or inside the car, because if she puts it on the outside people will covet it and steal it and if she puts it on the inside people won't be able to see it.She has had 24 hours to think about it and still has not come up with a decision soooo I'll keep you posted as to her final decision.Another major event over the weekend was that I had my first shower in 6 weeks on Sunday (it still felt like somebody was peeing on my head, but it was still a shower more or less) instead of the bucket bath I have mastered.I haven't decided which I prefer, but the shower was a nice change of pace.
I just completed my final exams yesterday, didn't study too much because we didn't have electricity the night before so I decided to go to bed instead and just wing it.Hopefully it went okay.Term papers are due at the end of the week. The reward is a trip to Mombassa on Saturday where I will lay on the beach and fry my mzungu skin until the 7th.Better get back to papers so I can enjoy the sandy beaches of the coast….
