Habari za leo! The water is back on and things and just in time to shower and go out for the weekend. On Friday we went to a place called Carnivore and the Simba Saloon for dancing. It is a pretty ritzy place for Kenya and a big attraction for the wealthy and tourist as they serve you about every kind of meat imangiable...ostrich, alligator, etc. Afterwards people go next door for dancing...I think the Kenyans were getting a kick out of watching the "mzungus" dancing skills (or lack there of) I'm sure we were quite a sight, but it was OUR music. Alot of 90's American tunes and old hip-hop. It was fun! Yesterday evening (Saturday) we went to a rugby game at the Impalla Club. It was definitely the place to be on a Saturday night. People get very into their rugby here. There was a drunk guy sitting behind us that ran out onto the field after the game and congratulated all of the players on his winning team. He was entertainment in himself as he would run up and down the field screaming a quite impressive string of vulgarities at the players. The police force was very high there since it was not until recently that they started allowing youth to gather again as it apparently posed the risk of a riot. It has been incredibly calm here, so calm that it's hard to imagine what it was like a month ago. I have not seen any form of protest or riot like activity at all since I have been in Nairobi. Everyone and everything is so relaxed and chill here, even the dogs (there are a lot) just lay around all day. One of the dogs had babies in the lot next to ours and I could hear them all afternoon yelping. The number of dogs is out of control. They all seem to be quite nice and tame, but I'm glad I came with my rabies vaccine just in case. There are chickens pecking away outside of this internet cafe as I type and yesterday I walked out of my door to see a herd of cows coming down the road. I had seen the piles of poop everywhere but had yet to see the source and there they were coming down the road. Yesterday Lillian showed me how to wash my clothes in a bucket. I think she thought I was an idiot for not knowing how but she was a good teacher nonetheless, and I think it was quite entertaining for her. Kofi Annan made an announcement on Friday that they had made a breakthrough in the politics section of the peace talks and he would be making an announcement as to what that would be early next week.
