Departing Barcelona for London Heathrow, although early, was mostly uneventful. Again the awkwardness of the bins and belts, but my shoes could stay on. I did get a "wanding" if there is such a word, but nothing to be alarmed about. Had plenty of time to get coffee and check out the few places open. Of course, there was a McDonald's!
The flight was fine with a bit of a head wind so we were a little late. Gay Maria found Peter and they were waiting for me after I cleared immigration. We were off to Badbury, Swindon in Wiltshire!
I'd forgotten how lovely Wiltshire is after leaving the London area. We could just see Windsor Castle off in the distance and I was reminded that Oxford was nearby as well. (On my last trip I was in other parts of Wiltshire, including Stonehenge and Avebury.) Peter narrated as we headed toward Lansdown, his home. After settling into our room, Gay Maria and I took a walk. (She was coming off her transatlantic flight and needed movement and fresh air.) Of course, she loved Peter's corner phone box that had a fresh coat of paint on it! Cocktails, meeting Peter's friend Helen, and dinner at his local pub just down the street topped the day off.:)
