Today was a travel day from Peter's to ultimately Stowmarket in Suffolk. It was an uneventful train ride to London's Paddington Station except I seemed to be the only person not in a hurray. (For a change that was nice.) I did ask lots of questions to make sure I headed off in the right direction for the Tube--underground--and Liverpool Station. (Gay Maria warned me to mind the signs to keep it all straight.) I did arrive at Platform 16 (east) for the next leg...
The Tube was crowded most of the time. I took an offered seat from someone who was getting off a few stops away. (He was also either hyper or had OCD as he was fixated on time, imitating the voice of the announcer--quite well actually, and talking to anyone listening and his very calm partner.) With my bags, I tried to keep out of the busy riders' way.
Liverpool Station was busy with shops and people to watch. After coming up, I wandered in and out of shops to pass the time before meeting Gay Maria, Clare and Martin (Ward), Alan (Fearby)--Clare's father, and friend Ray--who used my ParaOlympic ticket--for dinner. My last stop was a busy pub where I bellied up to the bar for a beer. (Learned that a tip is not expected by the bartender.) I found a place to sit, sip, and watch until a call came from Clare looking for me. We connected and were off to the restaurant just across the street, which is why it was chosen.
The Drift (www.thedriftbar.co.uk) in the Heron Tower is a "hot" bar restaurant according to their website. It's very contemporary, noisy, and lively. Martin, Alan, and Ray were waiting for us with a lovely Pinot Gris all ready opened. Our wine flowed--too well--and the food was fun, ranging from flat bread pizza to my yummy risotto. We, well maybe me, toddled to the train for Stowmarket. To that point, I snoozed most of the way.
At Alan's I settled into my room nicely. Didn't stay up long with the others. A another new day tomorrow.
